Commencing HIATUS

March 30, 2007

This holiday is going to need me to occupy every effort and unnecessary space available in my little stretch of time. I was in Leeds over the weekend and now I’m currently in Newcastle, staying at my brother’s place for a few days. To be honest, I haven’t done anything much, really. I should’ve started doing my bloody Chemistry past papers that I brought along with me here. This is what happens when the laptop screen is facing in front of me. I can sense the internet is luring me, calling me to stop whatever I’m doing and come to the the virtual world. Damn innernet! Speaking of which, I’ve been downloading and transferring serious loads of movies! I’m saving them for next week when I’m staying in London. This will keep my butt stuck in the hall, rather than spending my money over cinema tickets or other irresistibly unnecessary things. Well, it’s London! The place where you most likely to overspend rather than saving your allowance. It ain’t easy - you gotta have guts, man.

Anyways, I’m going down to Leeds again tomorrow evening and stay there overnight before catching up my coach to London in the next morning. I guess I’m pretty much screwed with my past papers since 14 Maths past papers are already waiting for me in London. This is a nightmare. I have to force myself to work my ass off in the next two weeks. What a great holiday this is going to turn out into. Yeah, you bet.

The coach to London takes about 5 hours from Leeds. Now that is serious travelling - well, sort of. For some reason, I know that I won’t be able to sleep along the journey. Maybe it’s just me not being used to taking naps in the afternoons. I wouldn’t want to waste my time letting my mind wander away from reality all the way so I’ve planned to watch movies instead. Two should be enough, considering that my laptop battery would last up to 3-4 hours.

So until the school reopens, I may not be able to post for the time being. Maybe a quick short one would do.

p.s. kimy, i owe you chocolates =p u still want the easter egg one?

Easter Starts Now

March 22, 2007

Well, from tomorrow actually. It’s just that I’m going off a day earlier =p Oh well, typical me.

Phew! I’ve finally finished packing ALL my stuffs into the moving boxes last night. Seven of them altogether; three large ones, two mini ones and another two with lids. It was such a pain in the ass, really, to decide which items go to which box. And what gave me headaches at the same time was that I have to pack up my luggages simultaneously as well. My bedsit had been so crammed since the beginning of this week and it really put me off. There was no point of going to lessons because I just simply couldn’t do anymore work but it didn’t stop from me from jogging to the gym though and work out during late afternoons earlier this week =p feeling quite determined somehow? Anyways, now I’m so relieved that everything has now been sorted. Now I’m just sitting here, waiting for time to approach me - if only I could skip forward hehe.

I’m leaving down south to London this afternoon but then I’ll be off back up north again to Leeds tomorrow morning. Easter holiday is not quite a holiday when I have to do about 20 past papers for all the subjects and shockingly for Statistics, I have to mail my bloody work to my teacher during the holiday! How uncool is that? My luggages are heavy because of books! Well, at least I’ve tried to minimise it already. Hanif’s bringing half of FP Maths books and past papers while I’m carrying the other half. Now that’s pretty handy.

I’m gonna miss this house. Everybody is. Today is the last day that I’m gonna set foot on this house ever again. It is one of the oldest houses in the school, probably 200-300 years old already. To be honest, most of the lads don’t really feel like moving to the post-modern new house, especially us, the leavers. Since it’s our last year and it’s gonna be our last term, why not we just end it in this house instead? Lots of things have been happening in this shabby house, lots of memories few years back since we first set foot on this house. Somehow I felt quite emotional about this. Nyeh, at least the recent house dance we had last week was really a blast, with a Ridgemount-style. It pretty much marked permanent memories in our heads about the last few days living in this house. Last night, we, the leavers, had a dinner meal with the housemaster. Each of us were treated with a box of pizza and that was pretty good. I should’ve taken some pictures.

Ah well, I guess this is it. I’m off now. Farewell, Ridgemount.

I’ll be seeing you guys soon in London =) I’ve been looking forward to.

Dancing Food

March 17, 2007

I was late for tea and I missed the massive food fight ever! I was actually on the way down the road to the dining hall when I first saw a couple of guys running out of the hall, then followed by a hundred others or so, few seconds later. I knew it had got to be this. Apparently, food was not the only thing that was being thrown at each other but plates, bowls and other eating utensils! It was such a hideous scene especially the middle part of the hall. Everyone just seemed to bail, leaving their freshly served food deserted. The mess created was absolutely ridiculous. Pieces of smashed plates and bowls were lying everywhere on the floor. Oranges, apples, plums, breads, plastic cups and even chickens were apparently the tools used to throw at each other with. Not to mention the spilled hot chocolates and fruit juices that just added to chaos. It was like a war zone. It’s good that our Ridgemount tables are situated at one corner of the hall and our area still seemed clean and intact as if we weren’t involved at all. Ah, what a wonderful and peaceful supper I had despite the dreadful aftereffects of the food fight. I heard a couple of guys from some houses got gated for the weekend. Oops.

There was a complication had arisen regarding our annual Ridgemount house dance this year. Apparently, all the dances we had before in the school for the past 7-8 years were considered to be illegal mainly because some of the sixth formers were still under 18 and that alcohol was involved. It was pretty unlucky for us that the licensing men got their eyes spotted on this not-to-be-missed event just 72 hours before the house dance. Initially, we decided to just pull the plug even though there was a way round it, that is, having the dance in TC instead but that would just then spoil the ‘house’ atmosphere. Everyone actually got baited about this matter since a major amount of hard work has been put in order to keep things on track, all the invitations have been sent and costumes have already been bought. Everybody has been looking forward to this house dance but suddenly things just hit the barrier. There was nothing much we could do with what the law says.

This will be the last house dance before the place is going to be renovated from next term. Of course, you wouldn’t want to miss it this time because it won’t ever be the same again next year, and the following years ahead. Hail to the housemaster for having such a great mind to come up with another way round this in order to still have the house dance in Ridgemount without having to break any law. That is, to eject all the under 18 peeps out of the dance. No, I’m kidding. We’re not that mean =p Well, we decided to have a ’sit-down meal’ or some sort in the private site of the house for those under 18 peeps, where they’re being served alcohol by someone who is over 18. That’s what the law has imposed regarding this. It would be not a problem at all for the rest who’s over 18 though as they are already legal to drink alcohol. I don’t care to be honest since I just don’t drink alcohol in the first place. Just as long as the house dance is on, then I’m looking forward to this! We’ve hired a DJ who does for a living and this is definitely going to be a blast! The dance floor we’ve transformed into in the hall is just simply spectacular! We have massive speakers and amplifiers. Oh man, the techno beats are so gonna shatter the glasses. I’ll put up the pictures from the house dance tomorrow. Oh, and my costume? Hahahahahaha =p not telling yet.

Happy 25th Birthday to my sister, Neez! May Allah bless you always with health, love, prosperity, and longevity. Semoga dipanjangkan umur dan dimurahkan rezeki. I’ll give you a treat next week when I see you, okeh? =p

And also, Happy 19th Birthday to Amy! May Allah bless you too always with happiness, health, love, longevity and all the good things you deserve, and may all your wishes come true! All the best with everything you do, alright? =)

Red Nose Clownophobia

March 16, 2007

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the red nose thingamajig on people’s noses was clowns! They freak me out all the time. Thanks to the Pennywise clown from the movie IT for the phobia, which is based on Stephen King’s novel. Clowns aren’t funny. They’re scary. They wear attractively bright and colourful yet absurd-looking clothes with white make-up, a big red nose and two big lumps of red hair to draw people’s attentions. Whoever finds clowns cute and funny, you must’ve gone out of your mind. They smile all the time, which scares the hell out of me. Somehow I see something behind those clowniac smiles. Something sarcastic, menacing and evil. That’s it, clowns eat people!

Do you see what I mean? More pictures of Pennywise Clown.

Apparently, today is Red Nose Day and to mark the day, our school has allowed us to wear casually to lessons provided that we donate at least £1 to the Comic Relief fund. You could also wear a special costume if you donated £10. This just doesn’t come everyday and it felt great having to come to lessons with casual wears. How I wish I could just do this each and everyday. It’s getting boring to wear the school shirt, blazer and tie uniform, you know. Thinking about it, it would be great if there was this one day of the year when the students and teachers were allowed to wear casual clothes to school back in Brunei. I noticed how the classroom environment changed this morning and I sense the positiveness and optimism aura. It’s something different. Like no other day.
