Before anything else, I would like to wish everyone Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Maaf Zahir dan Batin.

Heh. As soon as I got into London at the arrival gate of the Victoria Coach Station last Friday, my precious MacBook got into the hands of a thief. How crazy is that? I bumped into Ruzzy as she was waiting for her Bristol mates. So I decided to stay and wait for them too so that we could go to Brunei Hall together. I put my bag on the side bench and my laptop on top of it and I was just standing adjacent to it while chatting with her. I got distracted and this guy actually did a pretty smooth move and the next thing I knew when I took a glance, my laptop was gone!

I panicked and turned around to see if there was anyone running away because if there was, obviously it had got to be that damn thief. But I figured he was smart enough not to make anything suspicious. Well, bad luck he was messing around with me and for a second I already saw him, the guy with a grey sweater, having his arms wrapped around as if he was hugging something, walking calmly away, about 5 metres away from where I stood. I could’ve yelled but that would just alert the thief and he would then start running, which is just stupid. Instead, I sneaked up behind him and snatched my laptop back and yelled “Excuse me!” at him, in front of few dozens of people sitting at the side bench. I could see how surprised he was when I confronted him. I could’ve made things worse for him but I decided just to leave things to that since it was the first day of Hari Raya anyway and I don’t want to spoil it and waste my time dealing with his shit. At least I got my laptop back and that’s all that matters. I swear the next time it won’t be the same. Mess with me, and I’ll give you a tenfold.

Then I went back to Ruzzy and continued with the chats and this time, I put my laptop safely inside my bag. Lesson learned: Never leave your laptop open in public. It was my mistakes anyway and I was mad for letting myself become a victim. I could’ve lost it by now. I have always been aware when I’m in public areas but still, one slight mistake, even for a second could cost me everything.

Thank God. Alhamdulillah.

Time and Time

October 4, 2007

As far as I’m concerned, I’m very happy with my lectures and practicals timetable. I’m having lots of free periods, considering only two of the weekdays I have to stay at the university until 5pm. I think it’s lovely. Only three lectures in the morning on Monday, a great start for the week =p One hour lecture on Wednesday mornings and two on Friday mornings. The only price I have got to pay is having to attend a full-day timetable on Thursday, from 9am til 5pm with only one hour lunchbreak. And that’s today and it’s lunchtime and the only thing I could put this free period to good use is to go online.

I’m really in need of internet at home and it’s not going to be available until next week. And I miss watching football too on TV. Oh well, the least I could do is to actually play football on Saturdays with the people around here, which I did last week and God, it was tiring as I hadn’t been working out which left me with body aches for a few days. I’m still in the process of recovering for a game or practice this coming Saturday which I hope I’ll be ready by then.

It’s been confirmed that there will be an ‘ice-breaking’ session for the Bruneian freshers this Saturday evening at the University along with the fast-breaking activity. Then we all will be going off to a Goose Fair somewhere in the city. This is going to be fun, I suppose. The last time I went for rides was during Christmas last December and I still remember how much I enjoyed it.

Ah, I’ve got a Maths workshop, followed by a three-hour practical in half an hour and I think I’m gonna do some things else. So I guess this is it for now. I’m hoping to post new pictures soon.

Later.
